The Plateau State Government has declared Wednesday as work free to enable voters participate in the local government elections scheduled to take place same day.
Daily Trust reports that the local government election is to hold in 13 out of the 17 local government areas of the state.
Jos North, Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas have been temporarily exempted from the election due to the security challenges in the areas.
However, a statement signed by the Acting Secretary to the Government of the State, Richard Tokma, yesterday said the declaration of the work free day would enable voters exercise their franchise.
He urged all citizens to go about their lawful businesses and avoid anything that would affect the peace of the state.
