The elders in a show of solidarity thronged the government house in Makurdi to deliver the forms to the governor and urged him to go ahead with his aspiration to represent them at the upper chamber of the National Assembly next year.
Speaking on behalf of the elders, an octogenarian, Ugba Uyeh, noted that the decision to pick the forms for the governor followed his track record of quality leadership to the Tiv people in the past 15 years of his holding various elected positions.
Suswam in his response thanked the elders for their kind gesture while promising to uphold the confidence reposed on him by not letting them down if given the opportunity to go to the Senate.
“I pray that God will help me so as not to betray the confidence the elders have shown to me,” Suswam said.
Daily Trust had earlier reported that the seat is being contested by the governor who is due to leave office next year after serving eight years in the capacity while former national chairman of the PDP, Chief Barnabas Gemade, is seeking re-election to retain the seat.a
