Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed and 28 other gubernatorial aspirants on the platform of PDP drawn from the six states in the North East have been screened in Bauchi.
The exercise which was conducted at the party’s North East zonal secretariat had 30 aspirants screened, 29 scaled through while one was disqualified.
The aspirants were from Adamawa, Bauchi, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe and Borno states.
Thirteen aspirants went for the screening from Gombe; followed by Adamawa with seven, Bauchi four, Yobe three, and Borno two while Taraba had Governor Ishaku who is rounding up his first term as the only person that showed interest in the PDP ticket.
Speaking after his screening, Governor Ishaku said he was optimistic the PDP would capture more states in the 2019 general elections.
He warned the ruling APC and other parties to stay clear of Gombe and Taraba states, saying they could not be snatched from the PDP by any other political party.
Those slugging it for the ticket in Bauchi included Senator Mohammed, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, Senator Adamu Gumba and Auwal Jatau.
