The Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected results of the October 26 local government election declared by the state Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) saying the exercise did not reflect the yearnings and aspirations of the electorate in the state.
While addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, the state party chairman, Alhaji Haruna Saidu, said the election did not take place in many of the local government areas where results were declared by KESIEC in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said: “The election was fraught with many irregularities such as ballot box stuffing, snatching and many of the candidates declared by KESIEC as winners were not the actual winners of the election.”
He said PDP was heading to the tribunal to recover its mandates in Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, Jega, Aliero and Gwandu.
Others local governments where he said the PDP won include Arewa, Augie, Argungu and Dandi.
