‘PDP lost speaker’s seat to Suswam’s absence’

Terkimbi Ikyange of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Ushongo constituency emerged speaker during the inauguration of the eighth assembly in Makurdi following the additional support of three members of the PDP who voted against their party.
Shuluwa said though the PDP lawmakers erred by allowing the APC prevail, the bulk of the blame should be on the immediate past governor of the state.
“The only person that tried to organise the PDP in Benue is Senator David Mark who I learnt had a meeting with the lawmakers in Otukpo. Under normal circumstances, the PDP stakeholders would have met with their lawmakers to thoroughly work on them before the inauguration.
“But, they never did so, that was even because some of the party elders were sidelined during the general elections. In the same vein, the party’s executive never held any meeting with the lawmakers,” he said.
He however hailed the reversal of Suswam’s last minute decisions by the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom saying they were done in bad faith.
