A consulting firm, Mauritz Walton Ltd, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleging diversion of money against the Delta State government.
Mauritz Walton, which has a suit in court seeking to recover its professional fees for the recovery of Paris Club Refunds to some state governments, accused Delta State Government of diverting billions of naira from the fund.
Mauritz Walton also asked the EFCC to probe a hedge fund company, and other individuals named in the petition which, according to it, were engaged as an after- thought to siphon consultancy fees due to it.
The firm claimed that it was, in November 19, 2014 via a letter from the Delta State Government with reference number F.7/2/22, appointed as consultant for the recovery of the excess deduction of debts of the state government, known as Paris Club Refund, with an agreement to pay it 30 percent after tax. It said it carried out as instructed.
It cited the letter thus: “With reference to your proposal for recovery of excess deductions in respect of foreign loans, we are pleased to offer you consultancy appointment under the following terms and conditions”.
