FCT Devt Control gets acting director

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has appointed Hamza Madaki Tayyub as the acting Director of the department of Development Control of Abuja Municipal Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC). His appointment came following the retirement of Tpl Yahaya Yusuf, who until his retirement was the Director of Development Control.
Hamza Madaki Tayyub was born in September 15, 1958 and hails from Kwa in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano state. Until his recent appointment, he was the Deputy Director, Development Control Department of AMMC.
The new acting director attended Dawakin Tofa Primary School between 1966 – 1972 Certificate and later proceeded to Dawakin Tofa Government Secondary School between 1973 – 1977. He was at Bayero University (BUK), Kano between 1977 – 1978 for his Pre-Degree and later at the same Bayero University, Kano for B.SC (Hons) Geography from 1978 – 1981. He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria from 1983 – 1985 where he bagged his Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning (M.SC. URP).
He has worked with Kano State Urban Planning & Development Authority (KNUPDA) and was the Sole Administrator /Chairman, Makoda Local Government Area of Kano State from I998 – 1999. He was Executive Director, Admin & Finance in 2005 and Director, Physical Planning Min. of Land 2005 – 200-07. He joined the FCDA as the Deputy Director, Development Control Department FCTA 2007 and rose to the rank of Acting Director Development Control in 2015 until his recent posting.
He is a member of professional bodies such as Nigerian Institute of Town Planners NITP, Town Planners Registration Council and Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Town Planners.
He is married and blessed with children.
Prof. Sulaiman Bogoro bags Science Journal award

The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Prof. Sulaiman Elias Bogoro and the immediate past Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr. Musa Babayo has been conferred with Federal University of Technology (FUT) Science Journal awards in recognition of their support for the University’s Journal Publication.
The award was presented on the occasion of the institution’s 20th Anniversary of Nigerian Journal of Technological Research (NJTR) celebration and the unveiling of Special Edition of Journal held at the school’s recently.
The Director, Education Support Services of TETFund, Barr. Ifiok Ukim who received the awards on behalf of the duo expressed gratitude for such recognition accorded to the two TETFund scribes, while congratulating the institution on the NJTR’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Police appoints Owohunwa PSO

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has appointed Ag. ACP Idowu Owohunwa as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to Inspector General of Police.
Born on 20th July, 1970 in Kabba, Kogi State, Ag. ACP Idowu Owohunwa was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Officer (Course 19/1996) in 1996. He emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Cadet Officer in Professional Studies at the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Studies and Policing from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (on British Government Chevening Scholarship) and a Diploma in National Security from the Centre for Strategic Studies, Galilee International Management Institute, KibutzMizra, Israel.
Ag. ACP Owohunwa was a member of the Nigerian pilot Contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) which was involved in the post-war reform and restructuring of the Liberian National Police (LNP) in 2006 and also served as a Staff Officer to the 2006 Alh. Dan Madami-Chaired Presidential Committee on Nigeria Police Reform. A former Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police in the IGP Secretariat, Abuja.
Until his appointment as the Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. ACP Idowu Owohunwa was the Personal Assistant (PA) to the Inspector-General of Police. He is married with children.
Prof Ibrahim appointed director of IAR

Professor Ibrahim Umar Abubakar has been appointed the director of the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
According to a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibrahim Garba, the appointment which is for the initial period of two years is renewable for another period of two years subject to satisfactory and unprecedented performance.
The letter partly read that “Your appointment which takes effect from 17th, August, is in recognition of your administrative and academic leadership qualities”.
Professor Abubakar who hails from Taraba state was born in 1962 in Jibu town where he attended his primary school from 1969 to 1975 from where he proceeded to government secondary school Ibi where he completed in 1981.
He proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1982 where he obtained his B.Sc degree in Agriculture in 1985, his M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Agronomy in 1991 and 1999 respectively.
Professor Abubakar joined the services of the Ahmadu Bello University in 1988 as Assistant lecturer in the Agronomy department where he rose to the position of Head of department of Agronomy, Deputy Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Deputy Director, Ag. Director of the Institute.
Professor Abubakar who is presently a member of the board of the governing council of Ahmadu Bello University is married and blessed with children.
Daily Trust columnist awarded defender of Abuja Master Plan

Daily Trust’s Eye on Abuja Columnist, Umar Shuaibu has been awarded by the Nigeria Institute of Town Planners (NITP) FCT Chapter as the Most Outstanding Defender of the Abuja Master Plan on the occasion of 2015 Town Planners Week.
Tpl. Umar Shuaibu, of the Center for Environmental Management and Control, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, had been a columnist contributing his ‘Eye on Abuja’ column in the Property section of Daily Trust for several years.
He had also been one of the three paper presenters at the 2015 Town Planners Week where he dwelt on “The Imperatives of Advocay Planning in the Acquisition and Development of Land in the FCT.”
Kogi head teachers confer Excellence Award on Wada

The Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada has been conferred with the prestigious Award of Excellence by the State Chapter of Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON).
A statement signed by the state chairman of AOPSHON, ?Comrade Dominic Ondeku said the conferment of the award is based on the governor`s prompt payment of salaries and construction ?of new class rooms across several local government areas of the state.
