A governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC in Osun State, Mr Kunle Adegoke, has faulted the leadership of the party for opting for direct primary election without proper planning.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, the state capital, Adegoke who is popularly known as K-RAD said the process was faulty and not transparent.
He said the direct primary election was being organized without a credible membership register of APC members in the state.
He said less than 24 hours to the primary election, there was no display of membership register to determine who was qualified to vote or not.
“No party goes into an election without a voters’ register. It is only in Osun that some leaders of the party are practicing this electoral abracadabra.
“None of the 17 aspirants cleared by the screening committee of the party had been shown any membership register,” he said.
According to him, it would have been better for the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to adopt the existing 2014 guidelines by which the primaries in Edo, Ondo, Anambra and Ekiti were successfully conducted through indirect method.
Reacting, the Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy for APC in Osun, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said the direct method for the primary would allow majority of members to partake in the process.
