The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has ordered for the deployment of personnel to Osun state ahead of the gubernatorial election slated for September 22nd.
A statement from the corps spokesman, Emmanuel Okeh, Thursday, did not indicate the number of deployed personnel but described it as “massive”.
The statement stated that Gana ordered that, the “deployment should comprise of personnel from Osun, Oyo, Kogi, Edo, Ondo, Kwara, Headquarters and other neighbouring states for the purpose of maintaining of peace, law and order before, during and after the election.”
It added that In addition to the operational officers deployed, Three (3) ACG, Six (6) Commandants along with other senior officers from the rank of DCC to ACC below are to support the DCG Operations in supervising the deployment of personnel to critical areas.
Gana cautioned youths to shun act of violence, thuggery, rigging, electoral malpractices, ballot box snatching so as not to truncate the political and democratic processes.
The law is not a respecter of anybody, therefore, whosoever engages himself in any act inimical to the peace of the State shall face the wrath of the law” says Gana.
