There was upheaval yesterday at Ungwar Shanu, a community in Kaduna North LGA as two youth groups suspected to be members of the notorious Sarasuka gang clashed, killing one person.
The spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu who confirmed the incident explained that the person whose name was not given was killed when youths of Abakpa and Ungwar Shanu clashed.
According to him, the clash began since Friday and continued until yesterday (Saturday). "We swung into action immediately we got the distress call and we were able to arrest two of the youths while others fled.
He however mentioned that the commissioner of police, Austin Iwar has directed that the parent of the youths involved in the incident, the community leaders and other stakeholders be invited so as to bring an end to activities of the hoodlums.
While he lamented that parents of the hoodlums have not been cooperating, he said, "Their parents most times hide them after committing crime. The last incident at Badarawa, we had to arrest the parents before we were able to get their wards and they were made to sign an undertaking," he said.
He however assured that the situation had been brought under control and that calmness had returned to the area. "We will do everything to prevent a re-occurrence of such incident," he further assured.
