One injured, 5 escape as car plunges into ditch in Kubwa

A witness said the victim was sitting in front of a Gulf car with four other passengers heading towards Zuba when the driver suddenly lost control and veered off the road, before plunging into a gutter.
“The driver was trying to avoid hitting a Jeep, whose driver was also trying to dodge a Hilux vehicle that was about to somersault in front of them when he suddenly lost control and fell into the gutter,” she said.
She said the victim’s right hand was almost chopped off by the sharp edge of the gutter.
According to the witness, the driver and the other four passengers forced themselves out of the car unhurt, while the victim, who was trapped in the car, was rushed to the Kubwa General hospital by some passers-by.
Similarly, a middle-aged mason nearly lost his life after falling off a moving truck at Dutse.
A witness said the victim was sitting at the back of the truck which was loaded with sand when the driver lost control as a result of  tyre burst.
He said the victim was thrown out of the vehicle and sustained injuries, and was later rushed to the Kubwa General hospital.
When contacted, the head, Accident and Emergency unit of the hospital, Paul Olise, confirmed receiving victims of both accidents, saying the victim of the Gulf car sustained a deep laceration on the right hand, but is responding to treatment.
He however said the one involved in the truck had since been discharged.
