The Elewuokun traditional ruling house in Owo kingdom has announced the emergence of Prince Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, the director of finance and administration in the Ondo state civil service as the new Olowo-elect.

Prince Ajibade emerged the new traditional ruler of Owo kingdom in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State following an election keenly contested by 18 princes who had earlier been screened by the senior Omolowos after the demise of Oba Victor Folagbade Olateru Olagbegi.

Ogunoye got 14 votes out of 15 votes cast by the 15 senior Omolowos, who have the sole responsibility to select king for the ancient town, in an election conducted by officials of the local government.

Meanwhile a date has been set aside to install the new Olowo, which is August 23, 2019.

Secretary to the council of senior Omolowos, Chief Akinmade Usikaiye told Daily Trust that they will soon brief the press on the development.

The New Olowo of Owo is to be installed August 23.
