The Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has pledged support for the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) towards improving bills collection.
He said supporting AEDC to improve on its bills collection would in turn enhance service delivery.
He also assured of his resolve to fight against vandalism and theft of electricity infrastructure.
The One spoke when a nine-man delegation from the AEDC led by the General Manager, FCT South Region, Engr. Abdulmutalib Mohammed, paid him a visit in his palace yesterday.
He said he was pleased with the ongoing efforts by the company to reinforce the Abaji network in order to boost electricity supply to the town and urged the AEDC to fast track the project in view of the lingering challenge with supply of power in the town.
“I’m assuring you of 100% support to the initiative between your company and our NGO here in Abaji, which is intended to help you improve your cash collection. I also want to add that I’ll get the leadership of our area council to give you whatever support needed to enhance your service delivery to our area,” he said.
Earlier, Engr. Mohammed appreciated the traditional ruler and his subjects for their patience and understanding over the lingering power supply situation in Abaji town.
He assured that the ongoing line reinforcement project would be accelerated to ensure stability of electricity supply in the town.
He also used the opportunity to inform the traditional ruler of AEDC’s partnership agreement with an NGO – Ark Solution for Justice Initiative (ASJI)- for the deployment of meters on all transformers in the area.
He said the partnership was to ensure accurate and fair billing of customers by the company.
