The Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has expressed concern over shortage of science and Mathematics teachers in government secondary schools in the area.
Yunusa stated this when chairman of the FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB), Alhaji Musa Yahaya Muhammad, led other board members and staff of the board on a courtesy call at the Ona’s palace yesterday.
He also lamented lack of infrastructures in some schools in the area, and urged the board chairman to influence the takeoff of the University of Technology in the area.
The traditional ruler commended the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, for appointing one of their sons as a board chairman.
Earlier, the SEB chairman said he was leading some board members on a familiarisation tour to the palace and to also inspect some secondary schools in the area.
He told the Ona that the board would take stock of the challenges he highlighted to be addressed in due course.
The board chairman, who also said he and his board members were at the palace to seek for the traditional ruler’s blessing, added that his doors would always remain open for any advice that would move education to a greater height in the FCT.
