Olaitan dispatches 100 to claim Ikeja Golf Club Championship title

The 8th Ikeja Golf Club Championship came to a glamorous end last Sunday, with Muyideen Olaitan winning the title after two days of intense battle.

More than 100 golfers took part in the competition.

Playing one-shot off the pace going to the final and lying behind Jimoh Ogundare on count back, Olaitan grossed a score 80, beating Chris Obije and Ogundare to the second and third position respectively, leaving first round leader, Gbenga Ayodele in the fourth position.

While Olaitan grossed a two-day score of 160, the duo of Ogundare and Obije tied on 161, while Ayodele was further back at 164-gross.

One of the highlights of the event was Gen. Olayinka Sule (rtd), a former Captain and Trustee of the Club who at 81, played well enough to make the cut and played in the final round. He won in the Super Veteran category.

Other winners in the week long competition include Ayo Akande, Bode Shittu, runner-up, while former Captain Kunle Ogunleye came third.

Zed Jituboh, Clement Onyeyiri, Austin Aigbotsua, Esimaje Yomi-Egbe, Rasaq Murtala, Seyi Siwoku, Clement Olowokande, Jolomi Ideh, Awa Ibraheem, Femi Faseru, Femi Ajala, Frank Igbene are some other golfers who were honoured the tournament.
