The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun is not under investigation by the anti-graft agency.
A statement on Wednesday by the spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren denied media reports that agents of the commission stormed the basement of the Ikeja residence of the Governor.
Uwujaren said during the reported raid, EFCC agents were said to have discovered cash in local and foreign currencies stashed in a vault.
He said the report quoting ghost sources in the Commission further alleged that the Commission had been on the trail of the governor for two weeks before the purported raid.
He added that, “It is important to state that there is no truth in the report. Governor Amosun was neither under surveillance nor was any of his residence raided by operatives of the EFCC.”
“Consequently, members of the public are enjoined to disregard the false report,” He stated.
