The APC in Ogun State is enmeshed in crisis over the rescheduled governorship primary of the party in the state.
The party had been polarised following the adoption of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade as consensus candidate by the state APC.
Daily Trust reports that five other aspirants rejected the move, as well as the indirect primaries adopted by the Amosun-backed party exco.
However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC approved direct primaries for Ogun, forcing the state exco to bow to the national leadership.
The party governorship primary slated for Sunday had been shifted to Tuesday, but members of the committee from the APC headquarters, Abuja, were yet to arrive the state as of the time of this report. Speaking at a meeting yesterday, Amosun declared that there will be “no retreat no surrender”, accusing the other group of planning to reap where they did not sow.
“We will defeat them one million times. We have the government, we have the people and we have the party,” the governor said.
