A former National U-17 coach, John Obuh has tipped the Super Eagles to defeat the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in the 2019 AFCON qualifying series.
In a chat with Daily Trust, the former Kwara United manager believes the Gernot Rohr led team have the quality and capacity to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon.
“From the players that have been invited, I think they have the quality to give us victory”, Obuh noted.
According to him, it is important for the Super Eagles to defeat the Libyans in the two-legged qualifying series to stand a very good chance of qualifying prior to the match against South Africa.
“I know quite well that Libya are leading us and that is a disadvantage to us but we must look at the table before we go for the match knowing fully well that any mistake we will have problems in qualifying.
“I want to believe the boys want to go further from where we are as it today. After Libya, we are coming to play South Africa. It is very important we defeat Libya so that the standing can give us an advantage.
We are going to qualify and we can see that from the way things have been going for some time now,” he said.
