Obanikoro, Mills seek to boost trade

Obanikoro, who made the declaration when he called on President John Evans Atta-Mills at the Osu Castle in Accra, to officially round off his tenure in Ghana had restated the need for African countries to unite and cooperate among themselves. He opined that States should strengthen ties and pursue vigorously economic integration, so as to catalyze development. He said enormous natural and human capital abound in the continent that could leverage prosperity in the continent instead of seeking support from the West and Asian countries.

President Mills lamented the low volume of trade among member states, blaming it on past hostilities among African states. He said, “now we are singing with one voice, we should be able to deal with the issue”.

He also admonished his colleagues to implement programmes that would reduce poverty and improve the living standards of the people, especially the poor.
