NYSC DG begins implementation of new sports vision

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the chairman of the club and Assistant Director Sports, Mr. Emmanuel Attah said with the approval and support of the DG, NYSC now boasts of a standing football club that is ran professionally.
He said the resuscitation of the once moribund football club is part of the Director General’s vision for sports development saying the sports enthusiast has never hidden his commitment to encouraging corps members to make a living out of sports.
Attah who doubles as Super Eagles Coordinator said at the moment, 26 out of the players that were identified during a screening exercise across the country are accommodated at the NYSC camp Kubwa and would form the new football team that is going to take part in the FCT League and next year’s Challenge Cup.
“I am happy to inform you that we now have a Director General who is passionate about sports. He has a new vision for sports and he is giving the sports department every needed assistance.
“It will interest you to know that with his support, we now have a standing football team. Unlike in the past, our players are drawn from serving youth corps members. We have selected 26 players who are already in camp in Kubwa.
“We are going to take part in the FCT League and when the present players complete their service, we shall recruit new players from the next set of corps members. The DG is doing everything to encourage gifted corps members to make a living out of sports. This is part of his new vision for sports,” he said.
