The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, has advised corps members serving in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)to be security conscious and stay safe during their one-year service.
Speaking to batch B, stream two, corps members through the Director, ICT of the scheme, Mrs Christy Uba, yesterday, at Kubwa camp of the NYSC, Abuja, he urged them to shun vices that could endanger their lives.
He urged them to take advantage of the ongoing Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) programme to empower themselves and consequently create jobs for themselves and employ other job seekers.
Kazaure warned the corps members against use of hate speech on social media, saying it was part of the vices tearing Nigeria apart.
He therefore urged them to be a uniting force of the country by preaching against hate speech.
He also tasked them to come up with initiatives that could earn them honours awards as part of their Community Development Service (CDS).
On his part, the FCT coordinator, Bello Ballama, told the DG’s representative that the corps members were well coordinated in their conduct at the orientation camp and were ready to serve wherever they were posted for their primary assignment.
