…to release books soon

Six authors, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, Chimeka Garricks, Michael Afenfia, TJ Benson, Angel Patricks Amegbe and Othuke Ominiabohs have signed publishing deals with Masobe books.

This was contained in a release signed by the Media Executive of Masobe Books, Yakubu Simon.

The statement said the writers share “Masobe Books’ ethos of creating and publishing an exciting and eclectic body of work, including literary fiction, genre fiction, urban noir, speculative fiction, and short fiction.”

Nwaubani, an award-winning novelist and journalist, has partnered with Masobe Books for the Nigeria rights to her two novels, ‘I Do Not Come to You by Chance’ and ‘Buried Beneath the Baobab Tree’. She has written for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Guardian and several more media platforms.

Author of the novel ‘Tomorrow Died Yesterday,’ Chimeka Garricks, will be releasing a collection of short stories inspired by music titled ‘A Broken People’s Playlist.’

Also, Michael Afenfia, author of three novels, has adapted his series, ‘The Mechanics of Yenagoa’ into a full-length novel.

Benson, author of a collection of short stories, ‘We Won’t fade into Darkness,’ will be publishing his debut novel with Masobe, titled ‘The Madhouse.’

A poet and psychologist, Amegbe debuts with ‘The Days of Silence,’ a coming-of-age novel about the resilience of a family of women.

Ominiabohs, playwright and author of two novels, will be offering ‘Aviara,’ a novel about the travails of Anthony Mukoro, the hero from his first novel, ‘Odufa.’

The writers’ books will be released between November 2019 and the fourth quarter of 2020.

The Lagos-based publishing company formally announced itself to the world earlier in the year. It has four imprints: ‘Masobe’, for publishing mainstream fiction and non-fiction, ‘Keriku’ for self-publishing and printing services, ‘Oremaha’ for children’s literature, and ‘Bookchasers’ for book distribution and marketing.
