NSE on losing streak, shed additional N370bn

The Equities market of the Nigerian Stock Exchange ( NSE) closed yesterday on a negative note, as profit taking by shareholders saw the market capitalization shed N370 billion to maintain a two days losing streak, forcing the market to close below the N15 trillion mark.

The All ShareIndex (ASI) depreciated by -2.41% to close at  41,708.15 basis points as against -0.90% depreciation recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) returns currently stands at +9.06%. 

Market breadth closed negative as AGLEVENT led 15 Gainers as against  40 Losers topped by PRESTIGE at the end of today’s session- an Unimproved performance when compared with previous outlook.

Market turnover closes negative as volume moved down by -9.07% as against -6.33% downtick recorded in the previous session. DIAMONDBNK , FCMB and FIDELITYBK were the most active to boost market turnover. ZENITHBANK and GLAXOSMITH topped market value list.

GLAXOSMITH leads the list of active stocks that recorded impressive volume spike at the end of today’s session.

The summary of the trading activities indicates that a total of 470 million shares, valued at N3.6 billion exchanged in 6,309 deals.
