The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday rescued five teenage girls from a settlement where they were allegedly being recruited for prostitution.
It was gathered that the teenagers including a woman who claimed to be in her mid-20s were rescued during an operation on the settlement located at Uselu N’ Ahor in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, a suburb of Benin. NSDC State Commandant, Makinde Ayinla, said those rescued were teenagers from the North and North Central parts of the country.
Some of the arrested girls who told Daily Trust that they were from Benue State, and that their parents were not aware that they were in Edo State.
They said they were brought to the state by a woman simply called manager on the promise of giving them job in beer parlours.
They alleged that the said woman, now at large, collected N30,000 from them as settlement before allowing them to operate on their own.
“We pay N500 daily for a room to the manager while making profit of between N3,000 to N4,000 daily from sleeping with men,” they said.
