The Rivers State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday paraded 14 suspects allegedly involved in illegal oil bunkering and diversion of stolen petroleum products.
The command also displayed two barges and six trucks allegedly used in transportation of stolen petroleum products.
Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammed Haruna, said the suspects were arrested in various parts of the state while conveying various types of petroleum products.
He said men of the command in January impounded a barge containing unquantifiable litres of adulterated diesel at Alakiri while a white truck loaded with suspected crude oil was also impounded at Aluu.
He said the command also impounded an open mini truck carrying unquantifiable litres of crude oil at New Elelenwo while 10 suspected illegal oil bunkers were arrested at Awaba Flow Station in Degema.
