The Nigerian Civil Defense Service Corps (NCDSC) has intercepted a tanker diverting 45,000 liters of Petroleum Motor Sprit (PMS) to Kano from Yobe State.
The Commandant, NSCDC, Yobe State command, Ayinla Taiye Olowo, said the operation was base on intelligence report that the Tanker was led away to upload the product somewhere in Kano.
"Before we could act, it has already crossed Yobe boarder to Kano. So, we collaborated with our Kano command and the truck was intercepted. Preliminary investigation discovered that the product is for Alheri filling station in Gashua", he explained.
He said that the tanker was returned to Potiskum NNPC office and got it registered before taken to the designated filling station in Gashua, where they supervised selling the product at government approved price of N145 per liter.
The Commandant regretted that the NNPC and DPR are doing their best to ensure regular supply but, the errant marketers are sabotaging the effort causing untold hardship on people.
He reiterated his earlier warning that the Command will not spare any body found hoarding or diverting the product to sell at exorbitant price.
"I am happy to inform that, black marketers had gone under the ground as a result of our regular patrol and raid on their hide outs. Also, we will continue our stop and search of Petroleum Tankers to checkmate illegal activities of the marketers since it had started showing results", he assured
Olowo also appreciated the logistics support provided to them by the Commander-General of the NSCDC, without which, according to him, their operations would not be successful.
