The association, in a communique at the end of its two-day meeting in Katsina, also commended Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema for taking a wise and deliberate investment by providing modern facilities in the stadium to facilitate social and youth development in the state.
The communique, signed by SWAN’s North-West Zonal Vice President Ado Salisu, noted that, with the quality of sports facilities provided by the state government, Katsina will soon become one of the leading states in the country in terms of sports development of adequate attention is paid to school sports. That apart from certifying the standard of the floodlights, electronic scoreboard, changing rooms, commentary boxes, press tribune and state box, final touches are being put on the Astro Turf which the contractor MONIMICHELLE explained it is the best on offer even in Europe and America.
The zone further congratulated the NFF over Super Eagles’ qualification for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup scheduled to hold in Brazil this June, urging the country’s football ruling body to ensure adequate preparation for the global football fiesta. It also appealed to the National Sports Commission to intensify effort towards preparing athletes for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, stressing that as at present Nigerians are not aware of what is going on as regards to preparations for the Games.
