No need to annul Akwa Ibom gov election-Witnesses

Witnesses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, told the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, that the April 11 governorship election was peaceful throughout the state.
It would be recalled that Umana Okon Umana of the All Progressives Congress (APC) filed a petition at thev tribunal, seeking the nullification of the victory of Governor Emmanuel Udom of the PDP allegedly because there were violence and electoral malpractices during the election.
But Bassey Asuquo, a medical doctor and PDP polling agent, stated that he voted in the election which was conducted without violence in his unit, debunking the claims of cases of ballot box snatching.
However, under cross examination by APC counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Asuquo admitted that 941 votes were recorded for the PDP in the units where collation did not hold.
In another instance, the witness identified that results sheets collated from nine different units were signed by a single PDP agent called Joseph Okon Peter.
Also testifying, Godwin Ntuk-Ude, who was commissioner for transport during the election, refuted claims that the PDP-led government bought about 1, 000 buses for the Akwa Ibom Transport Corporation that were used to convey thugs around the state.a
