NO MORE BACKSLIDING :Coach Kelechi Emetole says Heartland will go all the way in CAF Champions League: Attributes resurgence to settlement of players entitlements

Speaking to Trustsports, the coach said from now onwards, his team will not slack again as it pursues its ambition of winning this year’s CAF Champions League.

“No more slacking. We would not look back again now that we have returned to winning ways. It is our intention to lift this year’s CAF Champions League and we won’t allow anything to stand in our way”

Emetole said the crises which bedeviled the club were over for good and the players have been motivated to give their best in order to reciprocate the confidence reposed in them.

He disclosed that seventy percent of the debt owed the officials and players of the club have been settled by the government and the morale in the team’s camp is really high.

“The players’ morale is really high because they have been paid at least seventy percent of the debt that was owed them. If somebody is owes you hundred percent and decides to pay you seventy percent, I think that will be enough to make you happy. These players are happy and are rearing to go” he stated.

The Coach attributed the impressive performance of his club against Monomotapa to the reasonable settlement of the backlog of money owed the players just as he blamed their 2-0 defeat in the hands of TP Mazembe to the financial crises in the club that preceded the match.

Having been settled, the coach said what the club needs to do is to concentrate on its remaining matches.

“ What we need to do now is to concentrate more on our matches. We are not going to be distracted by anything again. Our problems have been settled and what is uppermost on the minds of the players is to justify the confidence reposed in them by the State government and football loving people of  the state”

He, however, said they will take each match as it comes, adding that even as the desire is to reach the finals and if possible win the cup, there will be no desperate measures.

“We are going to take each match as it comes. Nobody is going to be in a hurry. That has been our tradition here and we would not succumb to any pressure. We shall give the championship our best shot” he maintained.

Coach Emetole insisted that he was not surprised by the resurgence in the club because he knows the capability of his players.

The players’ performance did not come to me as a surprise because we were not doing quite well but the reasons were obvious. The players’ morale was at its lowest ebb. Thank God that is now history”. He said
