NIPC, Oxford business group collaborate on Nigeria 2011 economic outlook

The report tagged The Report: Nigeria 2011, will rely predominantly on data that would be provided to NIPC for the forecast.

The NIPC was set up by the government to encourage, promote and coordinate foreign investment into Nigeria. It acts as a one-stop shop for the issuing of business entry permits, licenses and authorisations and provides match-making services for joint-venture projects.

OBG’s Abuja office Director, Arim Topete, said that the commission’s in-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s changing economic landscape had undoubtedly contributed to the success of the 2010 report.

“Nigeria’s 50th year of independence comes at a time when the government is pushing ahead with an extensive programme of reforms across much of its economy, including the energy, telecoms and financial services sectors,” she said.

“The Nigerian Investment Promotion Council’s expertise and business intelligence helped ensure that our first publication on the country gave comprehensive coverage of these exciting changes and I am confident that a second year of collaboration will help us raise the bar even higher in our new report,” she added.

Mustafa Bello, the NIPC’s Executive Secretary, added that the ongoing expansion of Nigeria’s non-oil sector and long list of infrastructural projects heightened the need for accurate information to be made available to the global business community.

“The comprehensive analysis of Nigeria’s economic transition which appeared in Oxford Business Group’s first report produced an excellent response from the global investment community,” he said.

Bello expressed, “As the country continues to move forward with its roadmap for national development, I look forward to building on our partnership with the group and extending our coverage of Nigeria to include the regional business landscape.”

The Report: Nigeria 2011 will be a vital guide to the many facets of the country, including its macroeconomics, infrastructure, political landscape, banking and other sectoral developments.

The report will include a detailed, sector-by-sector guide for foreign investors. It will also feature a wide range of interviews with the most prominent political, economic and business leaders and will be available in print form or online.
