Nigeria’s ladies table tennis team win bronze in India

Inspired by the duo of Offiong Edem and Cecilia Akpan of Cross River State, the Nigerian women’s Table Tennis team led by Offiong Edem put up superlative performances to win bronze medal at the ongoing 2019 championship in India.

The secretary of the Cross River State Table Tennis Association, Effionanwan Ntiero disclosed this to journalists at the UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar yesterday.


She said the team had beaten Malaysia 3-1, Wales 3-1, Bangladesh 3-0 but lost to England 3-2.

She said the two umpires from India, Ramanakumar and Krishna Kuar Rokkan had commended the Nigerian women team for spectacular performance.

Ajoke Ojomu is the other member of the team that made Nigeria proud in India.
