A group, the Nigerian Diary, has asked Nigerians to track the promises made by politicians during election campaigns across the country.
The group has also set a prize of N10,000 weekly for any essay that captured the blueprint or campaign promises with a view to holding them to account.
The group, on its Twitter handle @NigerianDiary, said it made the effort of tracking campaign promises in collaboration with the McArthur Foundation to initiate and drive meaningful conversations around political events at the state and national levels as the 2019 general elections was fast approaching.
“Interested participants are to send short essays of between 800 and 1,000 words to [email protected]. Selected winners will be announced weekly, and their entries published on www.nigeriandiary.com. Entries must be original work of the participant, topical and not previously published anywhere.”
“This initiative can help reduce abusive political debates that are run daily on Nigerian social media feeds especially Twitter and Facebook,” the group said.
