Navy spokesman Commodore Kabir Aliyu in a statement said the ship departed Port Louis, Mauritius on Thursday September 5 arrived in Freemantle two days ahead of her estimated time of arrival.
The ship is expected to spend 4 days in the Port before sailing for Port of Sydney where she is to participate in the International Fleet Review.
The fleet review, a historic commemorative maritime event for the Royal Australian Navy and Australia, include a multi- national sea exercise and other notable events intended to showcase the cordial relationship that exist between global maritime forces, the Navy spokesman said.
Aliyu noted that as part of the diplomatic role of the Nigerian Navy, “NNS Thunder” has been conducting flag showing visits en-route Australia thereby showcasing Nigeria’s naval prowess and potentials in furtherance of the nation’s foreign policy objectives.
