Nigeria now has political will to fight corruption – NSA

Nigeria has finally found the political will to fight corruption with Muhammadu Buhari as president, the National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Major-General Mohammed Babagana Munguno, has said.

The NSA who spoke at the Passing Out Parade of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) Inspector Course 4 at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna yesterday, said the war against corruption is a war that must be won.

“With the president’s support, your organisation has made remarkable strides in the recovery of assets and made significant progress in the investigation of politically exposed persons,” he said.

Monguno said as the new trainees join the fight against corruption, they must be aware that they have a reputation to keep, and must serve with integrity or be shown the way out.

“As the president has rightly enunciated, we must kill corruption before it kills Nigeria. The fight ahead is for Nigeria’s future, corruption eats away with everything required to make Nigeria great,” he said.

The EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu who spoke with newsmen after the occasion, said the commission had not relented in its effort to fight corruption, adding that the commission was determined to resolve all the cases before it.
