The Minister of Defence Mansir Dan-Ali has said Nigeria and Cameroonian troops are carrying out joint counter terrorism operations in parts of North East Nigeria.
The Minister made this known on Friday at the National Mosque in Abuja, shortly after the Juma’at prayer for the 2018-Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration (AFRD).
In an interview with Journalists, Dan-Ali said, “in the North East, I can say they have made great successes, as I am talking to you there is an operation going on between Nigeria and Cameroon, so we are looking at other armed forces of other countries to come and unite with us and forge ahead.”
Asked about the ability of the military to check internal security problem across the country, he said, “I can assure you that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is ready to defend our territorial integrity, despite all the internal security challenges.” Also speaking to Journalists, the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau said, “15th January every year, we mark or appreciate the sacrifices of security forces, some of them who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
He explained that the AFRD it is in appreciation of those who are making the sacrifice in order for us to have peace and stability in the country.
He said government is putting in place structures that will take care of security issues in Nigeria.
