The implementation of the National Homegrown School Feeding programme will commence on September 25 across selected schools in Niger State.
In preparation for the take-off, the training of food vendors to be deployed commenced yesterday in Minna.
The training was conducted in collaboration with officials of the Honey Well Noodles at the Justice Legbo Kutigi Conference Centre.
Speaking during the training, Mrs. Afiniki Dauda, the Special Adviser to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on Empowerment and Social Protection who is also the focal person of the Social Intervention Programme for the state, said about 805, 400 pupils were targeted in the initiative.
She said 7, 170 cooks would be trained across the 25 local government areas in the state and deployed appropriately.
She also disclosed that about N1.2 billion would be spent to feed the benefiting pupils every 20 days which was designed to increase school enrolment.
