The step, according to the Permanent Secretary in the Niger State Ministry of Sports development, Mr. John Tamaha is aimed at improving the state’s medal drive at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to the approval letter addressed to Kutigi “The Ministry of Sports Development has approved your appointment as Chairman of the above association. Your appointment is based on merit and keen interest in promoting sporting activities in Niger state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
“The ministry is counting on your wealth of experience to be wielded in the development of sports in the state and take Niger state to the next level based on our vision 20:20:20. We hope through your commitment and dedication as we prepare for major competitions and more especially the 19th National Sports Festival tagged ‘Paradise Games’ holding in Calabar laurels would be won and placed Niger State amongst the first 10 on the medal table. ”
