NGO offers free medical health in Kogi community

A non governmental organization, Waves of Success Foundation (WSF) has offered free medical services to 2,500 indigent people in Kogi communities.

North Central Trust reports that the beneficiaries who were drawn from Lokoja and Anyigba areas of the state got free drugs, eyes screening with free eye glasses while pairs of sandals were equally donated to children on the occasion.

The Founder of the NGO, Mr Yusuf Okpanachi told journalists at the venue in Lokoja, that the aim was to impact lives of the less privileged people and alleviate their sufferings.

He said the outreach would be extended to communities at Okene in Kogi Central and Kabba in Kogi West zone of the state.

The Medical Team Leader, Dr Kelechi Okoro, said the diseases diagnosed and treated included hypertension, diabetes, malaria, arthritis, pneumonia, ulcer and free eye testing.

Responding, the community leader of Adankolo, Chief David Agbayi, commended the NGO for bringing the outreach to his domain to alleviate the sufferings of indigent people.

“I am also a beneficiary; free drugs and eye glasses were given to me after I was diagnosed. I cannot see far object, I have itching-eye, fever and ulcer.

“This is the first time that people in my community are being diagnosed, treated and given drugs and glasses at no cost. I want other NGOs to emulate this good legacy,” the monarch said.

A widow, Jumai Usman, who also received eye glasses and drugs, lauded the organization for extending such gesture to the downtrodden people in the society.
