Three members of a family and a civilian JTF member have been killed and eight others wounded when multiple blasts exploded in Maiduguri on Saturday night, police and residents said.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer Borno Command, DSP Victor Isuku in Maiduguri yesterday, said, “About 2100hrs, three suicide bombers, a male and two females, attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri town through Umarari village in Molai general area. They were sighted by Civilian JTF and challenged. They detonated the IEDs strapped to their bodies while running to different directions.
“Four people, including a Civilian JTF, a woman and her two children died while eight others sustained injuries, and have been taken to hospital.
A resident, Bulama Ali, said the bombers stormed the village and attacked the villagers. “It is unfortunate that we kept experiencing this ugly situation almost every week in this axis, we lost three members of a family and a civilian JTF who sacrificed his life to save us,” Ali said.
