New PSC board promises efficient police

The new board of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has assumed duties with a promise to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for optimum efficiency.

The new chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police, said there was much work to be done, a statement by the spokesman of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, said yesterday. He said the new team would immediately begin work as there was no time to waste.

“We’re starting work immediately and will work many hours every day for us to effectively discharge our constitutional mandate,” he said. He noted that the new team would work to build capacities in the commission and give the country a police force to be proud of.

“We have continued to discuss the current state of the Nigeria Police and the state of Nigerian security,” Ani quoted him as saying.
