NEMSA backs AEDC’s network cleanup, to inspect installations

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) has backed the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on the cleanup of poor networks as it works to check installations.

The Managing Director of NEMSA, Engr. Peter Ewesor, who led some inspectors to a meeting at the AEDC head office, said his agency was satisfied with the company’s network sanitization in Gishiri, and asked that it should be extended to other areas.

AEDC had two weeks ago commenced a phased cleanup of poorly wired communities starting with Gishiri village in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to be extended to Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger states.

“The Distribution Company (DisCo) is trying in the area of efforts to put its network in proper shape. We commend you for that. However, you need to do more to sanitize other bad networks in your coverage area and NEMSA will be there to give you all the support required.

In his remarks, the AEDC Managing Director, Engr. Ernest Mupwaya, congratulated Ewesor on his reappointment while assuring that AEDC takes Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues seriously, and is committed to working with NEMSA.
