The Edo State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 65 suspected drug traffickers in the state.
The command also seized 4,582.57 kilogrammes of narcotic drugs between July and September, 2019, it was gathered
The State NDLEA Commander, Buba Wakawa, who disclosed this yesterday in Benin while briefing journalists on the activity of the command, said those arrested include 39 males and 26 females.
He said in July, 28 suspects were arrested with 442.61kg of drugs; in August, 11 were arrested with 452.36kg while 26 were arrested in September with 3,687.60kg.
He said the command also destroyed 11 farms measuring 5.191335 hectares, adding that the farms were estimated to yield 1,7041.80kg of cannabis.
Wakawa said most of the suspects were from Edo and Delta states, lamenting that some of the suspects were between 55 and 65 years old.
The commander further disclosed that a total of 24 drug dependent persons were successfully counseled by the command and reunited with their families.
