NDE disburses N3.9m loan to 144 youths in Gombe

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) said it has disbursed the sum of N3, 960, 000 as loan to 144 youths it trained under the Rural Employment Promotion Department of the organisation.

Director General of the NDE, Dr Nasiru Ladan Argungu, disclosed this yesterday in Gombe during the disbursement of the fund to the youths drawn from the 11 LGAs of the state.

Represented by the state NDE coordinator, Malam Ibrahim Faisal Audu, he said the beneficiaries were given the low interest loan after they underwent a training conducted by the organisation.

Dr Argungu said 48 youths who were trained on Food Producing and Packaging received N20, 000 each while 36 others who were trained on Agricultural Enhancement Scheme were given N50, 000 each.

He said  60 youths from six cooperative societies were trained on Agricultural Value Chain Scheme and received N200, 000 each.

He therefore, urged them to make judicious use of the money and opportunity given to them to be able to pay back the revolving loan, in order to allow others to also benefit from the scheme.

The director general added that the beneficiaries have six months grace period before they would start paying back the loan, which they are expected to pay within 12 months at nine per cent interest rate.
