NDDC contractors kidnapped

Suspected kidnappers have abducted two contractors working for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Otuogiri community in Ogbia Local Government Area. 


Our correspondent gathered that the abductors, who stormed the community in the early hours of yesterday, exchanged gun fire with soldiers, before taking away their targets.

One of the kidnapped victims was later released when they discovered that he was not their main target, while the other was whisked into a waiting speed boat to an unknown destination.


A member of the community, Mr Lucky Moses, told Daily Trust, that an accomplice, who confessed to giving information to the abductors, has been arrsted.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Bayelsa State, DSP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the abduction, saying the accomplice has been arrested and is undergoing interrogation.
