The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has urged communities living around Heipang and Shere Hills in Barikin Ladi and Jos North Local Government Areas of Plateau State not to panic when seeing any unusual movement of military personnel, vehicles and equipment in their areas.
In a statement by NDA’s spokesman, Major Abubakar Abdullahi, said the movement in Plateau would commence from 5 to 11 July. He added that residents of Anguwan Patachi, Antai, Gadanaji and Kuturan Buzu in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State would also witness such movement from 11 to 25 July.
Major Abdullahi advised residents to continue their daily activities accordingly as the movement is the final outdoor exercise for army cadets of the 67 Regular Course and Short Service Course 46 of the NDA.
He further said the exercise was designed to test cadets’ leadership qualities, endurance, map reading, command and control capabilities among other military competences, adding that the exercise was also a major platform to ascertain the level of preparedness of final year army cadets before their commissioning as officers in the Nigerian armed forces.
