Jato, who dropped the hint in Abuja at the golden jubilee anniversary of the institution, described the National Library as the intellectual memory of a nation.
The director added that the National Library has opened 27 branches nationwide and is still developing more.
The Minister of State for Education, Professor Viola Onwuliri, said the National Library has successfully supported intellectual efforts for the development of the country as well as promoting a free-flow of knowledge between the nation and others.
Earlier, the chairman- designate of the National Library Board, Abdullahi Haruna Ningi, said the institution intends to make Nigeria a reading community by establishing libraries all over the country.
Daily Trust reports that the National Library Act 1964 laid the foundation for the governance of the library as it is today.
