The Nasarawa state government says it has commenced the processes of dissolving the management of Nasarawa United and Nasarawa Amazon Football Clubs to pave way for new ones with fresh ideas.
Commissioner of Youth and Sports Bamaiyi Anangba, who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Lafia, said the dissolution of the both management is in compliance with the mandate guiding the clubs which stipulates that a management will only be in place for a season and be dissolved by the end of the season but with an option of renewal.
“A management of a team is supposed to be appointed for a season and we noticed that this management was appointed since 2012. When I came in, it was mid-season. So I decided that work should continue till end of the season.
But I brought to the notice of both teams that by the end of the season, they will be dissolved so as to abide by the mandate guiding the teams. Even if we will reappoint them, it will be seasonal,” he said.
Anangba added that the process for the dissolution has already started but would require detailed season reports of both teams from their managements for the dissolution to be completed and new managements put in place.
“They are supposed to send in their reports before the dissolution is completed. It is after their reports and financial details have been analysed that official approval for their dissolution will be sought for and granted,” he added.
He revealed that the decision to carry out the dissolution did not appeal to some management members but added that the decision would be fully implemented because it was the state government decision to reposition the clubs for effective performance in the new season.
