Nasarawa gov’t urged to absorb artists as permanent staff

Nasarawa State Government has been called upon to absorb artists in the Ministry of Information and Culture as full-fledged staff of the ministry.

State chairman of the Radio Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), Ahmad Na’ibi, made the call when the union paid a courtesy call on Governor Abdullahi Sule at government house, Lafia on Monday.

“We are requesting you to kindly confirm the artists as full-time staff to enable them to continue to work in developing the state and country in general,” he said, and also called for support for the union to enable it function in local and national events.

In his response, Governor Sule said RATTAWU has done very well in the areas of showcasing the rich cultural norms and values of the people of the state at state, national and international levels.

He maintained that members of RATTAWU in the state have made the state proud both in the media and cultural sectors and urged the members to keep the tempo.
