Luka, in a statement issued through his press secretary, Danjuma Joseph, in reaction to an earlier report in which party members loyal to him said they are no comfortable with the selection of Buba as state interim party coordinator, affirmed the opposition, but said it is not about loyalty to him.
He said the opposition to Buba’s appointment as state APC coordinator is because party members are worried that the coordinator is not a member of the APC.
“His Excellency observed that the reaction of the people might not be unconnected with the fact that Stanley Buba is not a registered member of the defunct CPC, ANPP or ACN, but of the Labour Party, which is yet to officially decamp to the mega party, APC,” he explained.
He said the emergence of Buba as coordinator did not have his (deputy governor’s) consent, explaining that he “was far away in United States of America,” when Buba was appointed. He also said he is not leading any faction of the party.
But General Ahmed Abdullahi Aboki, party’s National Vice Chairman in charge of North-Central, who appointed Buba, said the appointment was done with regards to the templates spelt out by the party, just as he confirmed Buba as a bona fide member of the APC.
Buba when contacted told Daily Trust that he was baffled that the deputy governor has forgotten so soon how he embarked on a state tour to mobilize support for the APC even when it was yet to be registered.
