NARTO rejects scrapping of PEF

The National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has rejected proposal by the National Assembly to scrap the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF).


According to the President of the union, Alhaji Kassim Bataiya, if PEF is scrap, it would extremely difficult if not practically impossible for citizens in far North-West, North-East and some interior places in the south West, east and even South  South to have access to petroleum products or buy at the approved prices.

In a message delivered at the Branch Executive Council meeting of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) in Ibadan, Bataiya reiterated the importance of the fund to the availability of petroleum products at the government approved prices.
